DESCRIPTION:Writer Matt Fraction\, artist Steve Lieber\, and colorist Nathan Fairbairn have teamed up to create an exclusive variant cover for BATMAN #1 featuring the iconic Hollywood Theatre movie palace. This edition will be available at Rose City Comic Con in the Hollywood Theatre / Movie Madness booth from Friday September 5th to Sunday September 7th. \n“I love the Hollywood Theatre to the bottom of my movie-loving heart and wanted to take advantage of this big Batman moment I find myself in to do something special to celebrate her 99th birthday\,” said Matt Fraction. “Selfishly\, I wanted to see my favorite artist\, Portland’s own Steve Lieber\, draw the Caped Crusader perched upon the most Gotham City-like edifice in all Rose City.” \nFrom Friday\, September 5th – Sunday\, September 9th\, Matt will be joining us in at the Hollywood Theatre/Movie Madness Booth at Rose City Comic Con selling signed copies of BATMAN #1 with the exclusive Hollywood Theatre variant cover for $40 or included with a Friend level or above membership to the Hollywood Theatre/Movie Madness purchased at the convention. \nAt 7pm on Thursday\, September 11th at PSU\, Fraction will be teaching a class for Movie Madness University\, the organization’s film appreciation program. This two-hour lecture\, Becoming the Bat: Cinematic Origins and Influences on Batman\, will use film clips\, page/panel and screen comparisons to examine the cinematic sources of the Caped Crusader and discuss how these films influence Batman\, both on-screen and on the page\, even today. \nMatt Fraction is best known for his work as the writer of THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN\, FF\, THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST\, UNCANNY X-MEN\, and HAWKEYE for Marvel Comics; CASANOVA and SEX CRIMINALS for Image Comics; SUPERMAN’S PAL JIMMY OLSEN for DC Comics; and co-created\, executive produced\, and wrote for AppleTV’s MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS.
